Kings commit to 2026-27 season
The Powell River Kings Hockey Club Society, in partnership with the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached confirming that the Powell River Kings will continue as a franchise member of the BCHL for the 2026–27 season.
The Kings will remain in the Coastal Conference and look forward to continuing their long-standing tradition of competitive junior hockey within the league.
Joe Mastrodonato, Interim President of the Kings Society, expressed his gratitude to the community and supporters who played a vital role in securing the team’s future: “I would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported our contingency plan. Without the tremendous support from our community, partners, and stakeholders, the outcome for the Powell River Kings could have been very different.”
The Kings organization would also like to extend its appreciation to BCHL Commissioner Steven Cocker, Rich Murphy, Chair of the BCHL Board of Governors, and the Kings Board of Directors for their leadership and support throughout what has been a challenging period.
With this agreement in place, the Powell River Kings are excited to move forward with stability and renewed focus as they prepare for the upcoming season.
