Queen’s Park v Ross County – Live on BBC Scotland

QUEEN’S PARK host Ross County for a vital fixture in the bottom half of the William Hill Championship.

The Spiders are eight points better off than the travelling Staggies – despite Stuart Kettlewell’s side taking all three points on their last visit to The city Stadium in February.

That result sent the Spiders to the foot of the table but since then a positive run of results – with only two single-goal defeats – has elevated Queen’s Park up the standings and to be locked in a four-way tie on 36 points with Ayr United, Morton and Raith Rovers.

It’s a particularly tight league with four, or in the Spiders’ case five, games remaining and every point counts.

This fixture has seen the away team win each encounter so far this season, and Sean Crighton is keen to reverse that trend with the BBC Scotland cameras on the southside for all the action.

Looking ahead

Sean Crighton’s head coach previews are sponsored by Glasgow Clyde College.

The head coach, and assistant Jim Duffy, are sponsored by PTS Clean this season.

The Season so far...

Ross County were one of the pre-season title favourites last summer. Queen’s Park were very much the opposite.

However the Spiders go into this game eight points ahead of the visitors who have played a game more in the league this season.

Each meeting has been close – settled by a single-goal margin – but interestingly, always ion the away teams’ favour.

Uche Ikpeazu scored a late winner at The city Stadium in February to give the Staggies and former QP midfielder Stuart Kettlewell the points – but the Highland side have won only once since then.

Defeat that night sent Queen’s Park to the bottom but as they have done so many times this season, Sean Crighton’s side rallied and even occupied fifth spot in the table last month.

Locked in a four-way mid-table tie on 36 points with Ayr United, Morton and Raith Rovers, the Spiders are now ten points off the promotion play-offs, and six off ninth place with five games to play.

County, on 28 points, have played a game more.

Queen’s Park will be without Grant Savoury who underwent surgery on Friday, while Carlo Pignatiello and Nikolay Todorov were both injured in games last month. Long-term injury victims Charlie Fox and Zach Mauchin remain sidelined.
