“Awful all season” – Jamie Carragher slams error-ridden Liverpool star
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has hit out at Ibrahima Konate’s poor form this season after last night’s defeat away to Paris Saint-Germain.
Goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave PSG a 2-0 win at the Parc des Princes, leaving Liverpool with a very difficult challenge to turn it around in the second leg of this Champions League quarter-final tie.

Although there has been a lot of focus on the dip in form of ageing centre-back Virgil van Dijk, Carragher actually defended the Dutchman and insisted life has been made harder for him by having such an out-of-form defensive partner this season.
Jamie Carragher slams Ibrahima Konate’s “awful” season
Konate has mostly been a solid performer for Liverpool, but Carragher feels the France international has been awful and full of mistakes all season this term.
“People have criticised Van Dijk for his performances this season but I think it’s been harsh. I think he plays every game, the fella next to him has been awful all season and poor again tonight, Konate, makes a mistake every game, so that’s not easy to play alongside, so I still think he’s been one of Liverpool’s better players, Virgil van Dijk,” Carragher said on CBS Sports, as quoted by the Metro.

LFC have certainly been leaking goals in a way that they weren’t last season, but it’s not that obvious if it’s all down to Konate, with the whole team just looking at a far lower level.
Should Liverpool let Ibrahima Konate leave?
Konate’s future has been the subject of some speculation for months now, with the 26-year-old close to becoming a free agent.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on Liverpool’s Konate contract talks here, but perhaps there’s a case for the club simply allowing him to come to the end of his deal and leave.
Konate has shown he’s capable of playing much better than this, but perhaps he’s now entering into a serious decline, and this summer could be an ideal chance to completely revamp Arne Slot’s defence.
