Winter Storm Watch Issued as 4 Feet of Snow, 90 mph Winds Approach: 'Stay Indoors'
Nearly three weeks ago spring officially started – at least according to the calendar.
Two and a half weeks after the spring solstice two states are bracing for up to four feet of snow and dangerous 90 mph winds as a strong winter storm hits this weekend.
The National Weather Service urged residents to stay indoors amid the inclement weather.
"Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers," the warning read. "Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat."

4 Feet of Snow, 90 mph Winds Incoming for California, Nevada
A storm from the Pacific is forecast to spin slowly toward California and Nevada later this week before drifting inland over the weekend, Accuweather forecasted. While the storm is bringing some much-needed rain, there will also be heavy snowfall in certain regions.
The Sierra Mountains are expected to receive the brunt of the forecast with up for four feet of snow falling in Western Plumas County, Lassen Park-West Slope and Northern Sierra Nevada.
Meanwhile, in the Lake Tahoe region snow accumulations could reach up to 28 inches while wind gusts along the Sierra crest reach 90 mph.
The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages across the region.
National Weather Service Issues Travel Warning
Residents were warned to "delay all travel" if possible. However, if absolutely necessary, drivers were asked to travel with "extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility."
"Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination," the National Weather Service warned. "Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order."
The winter storm watch is in effect from Friday evening through Sunday evening.
