What Is the Best Show or Movie Bryan Cranston Has Been in Post-'Breaking Bad'?
Byran Cranston is back in a big way for the Malcolm in the Middle reboot on Hulu. A lot has happened for Cranston since he was last Hal Wilkerson, with most people now associating him with Walter White on Breaking Bad.
Even though he will now forever be connected to the best drama of the last two decades, Cranston has been in his fair share of good shows and movies since Vince Gilligan's incredible crime series. Here are the best vehicles exhibiting Heisenberg's talents!
'The Studio' (2025)
Seth Rogen is the clear star of this satirical comedy, but Cranston is a great supporting actor who rounds out the cast. The Studio illuminates the humor and hypocrisy of Hollywood, in all its glory and warts. Catherine O'Hara is also a big name in this one before her death in January 2026.
'Your Honor' (2020-2023)
Cranston got back to his anti-hero best in Your Honor, a series that follows how far a judge will go to cover up a murder his son commits. The mafia gets involved because the victim of the case is the son of a big mob boss.
Cranston's character spirals to darker and darker places, even if he never rots to the extent that Walter White did. The series was supposed to be a one-season showing, but fans reacted well, and it got renewed for an encore season that aired in 2023.
'Isle of Dogs' (2018)
One of the ways Cranston has stayed relevant in his post-Breaking Bad years is with his tremendous voice work in animated films. The best performance might be Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs. The story focuses on a group of dogs rejected by society due to a pandemic. Social commentary on government and tactics used during mass illnesses makes it more interesting for adults than children.
'Trumbo' (2015)
Trumbo was one of the first movies Cranston was in after Breaking Bad, and his performance is award-worthy. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his depiction of Dalton Trumbo, a Hollywood screenwriter who was kicked out of the film industry due to his ties to communism in the mid-20th century. The movie is a treat for historical film fans.
