Four illegal Bangladeshi immigrants held in Mirzapur
Varanasi: Four illegal Bangladeshi immigrants were arrested in Mirzapur on Tuesday evening. They have been living here for the past six years.Mirzapur’s superintendent of police Aparna Rajat Kaushik said a team of Katra Kotwali police was conducting night patrolling near Mirzapur railway station when they spotted a suspicious person. When the cops started questioning, he initially tried to mislead but later divulged his name was Mohd Sabuj Hussain from Thakurganj district, Rangpur division, in Bangladesh.Hussain revealed that his brother Sabbir Hussain brought him along with two other youths from Bangladesh and they were currently working at a crusher in Dagmagpur hills.Following the revelation, the team of Katra Kotwali raided the crusher unit where Sabbir, Nareshdas and Jaydas were arrested.Police also recovered four mobile phones, fake Aadhaar and PAN cards, Bangladesh voter IDs and passports from them.They were arrested after being booked under sections of the Citizenship Act and the Immigration and Foreigners Act.The SP said, the illegal immigrants had crossed the Bangladesh border through a river to enter Raiganj in West Bengal after paying money to an agent.“From there, they travelled by train from Kaliyaganj Railway Station to Agra and, in search of work, they reached Mirzapur. Here, they started working at PK Crusher in Dagmagpur hill by concealing their Bangladeshi identity,” she said, adding, Sabbir and Sabuj fraudulently arranged forged documents like Aadhaar and PAN cards on the address of Dasauti village in Kaimur district of Bihar.
