'Why are you so rude?' Pete Hegseth snaps at journalist in tense briefing
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth snapped at a journalist Wednesday during a Pentagon press briefing after being asked about potential violations to the two-week tentative ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran.
Responding to a question about Iran continuing to launch strikes Wednesday after having agreed to the tentative two-week ceasefire agreement, Hegseth said that he still believed the ceasefire would “hold.” A journalist then shouted out a question regarding the alleged Iranian strikes.
“They’re still firing ballistic missiles!” the journalist could be heard shouting.
“Excuse me, why are you so rude?” Hegseth snapped back. “Just wait, I'm calling on people.”
Moments later, Hegseth could be heard saying under his breath “nasty.”
The Associated Press reported that Iran launched strikes against Israel and Persian Gulf states following the ceasefire agreement, while Israel also acknowledged carrying out strikes on Lebanon after the deal, which Al Jazeera described as “the largest coordinated strike” since early March, a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
