Iranian Officials Declare U.S. Ceasefire A Victory For Iran
Iranian officials are portraying the two-week ceasefire with the United States as a political and military victory, presenting the pause as proof that the war ended on terms largely shaped by Tehran.
Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday that Iranian officials say Washington accepted the general framework of Tehran’s 10-point proposal as the basis for the next round of negotiations.
U.S. President Donald Trump has also described the ceasefire as beneficial for Washington, saying major differences had narrowed and suggesting the temporary halt could open the way to a broader settlement.
Iranian authorities praised what they described as the resilience of the Iranian people and armed forces, while arguing that early U.S. and Israeli assumptions about a rapid collapse of the Iranian system had failed.
The two-week ceasefire is now expected to be followed by direct or indirect talks in Islamabad on Friday, with Pakistan continuing to position itself as the key mediator between Washington and Tehran.
According to public summaries of Iran’s proposal, Tehran is seeking guarantees against future attacks, recognition of its nuclear rights, sanctions relief, compensation and wider regional de-escalation, including beyond Iran itself.
Still, the U.S. and Iran have not publicly framed the agreement in identical terms, suggesting that both sides are trying to sell the ceasefire domestically as a success while leaving core disputes unresolved.
Meanwhile, both governments appear eager to claim momentum from the truce, but whether either side can turn competing victory narratives into a durable agreement remains uncertain.
