Prestigious Fetisov Journalism Awards to take place in Cyprus on April 22
This year, all roads lead to Limassol, where the seventh annual Fetisov Journalism Awards will take place, an event widely recognised among the most prestigious journalism awards worldwide, with winners representing leading international media outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, the BBC, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, The Economist and top digital platforms.
This year’s awards have recorded a new participation record, with the jury having already selected the winners, who will share one of the largest prize funds in global journalism. The names of the winners remain confidential and will be officially announced during the awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 6.30pm, at the Parklane Resort and Spa, in the presence of government officials, senior representatives of Cypriot media organisations, distinguished publishers, journalists from around the world, and other esteemed guests.
The jury has selected 12 winners across four categories: Investigative Journalism, Human Rights Journalism, Peace Journalism, Excellence in Environmental Journalism
This year, approximately 500 entries from 80 countries were submitted. The winners will share a total prize fund exceeding €560,000.
The awards ceremony will be preceded by a high-level international meeting, bringing together prominent journalists, Fetisov Journalism Awards representatives, and key figures from the European and global media landscape. Participants will discuss the latest trends and developments in journalism at a time when the industry is undergoing profound change, amid political, social and economic instability worldwide.
“Rarely has there been a more difficult time for reporting the truth,” said Aidan White, Director General of the Fetisov Journalism Awards. “Yet our winners demonstrate that journalism continues to challenge propaganda, hate speech and social injustice through outstanding reporting, speaking truth to power and telling the stories the public needs to hear.
“This has been a difficult year for everyone working in news media. Regional conflicts, record numbers of targeted killings of journalists, and threats against independent media are widespread. Nevertheless, journalists continue to resist with courage. By telling their stories, holding power to account and exposing injustice, they inspire all those striving for a better world,” he continued.
“In Cyprus, we will honour the very best in global journalism. It is a moment to celebrate journalism and its vital contribution to democracy, human rights, and freedom worldwide.”
