Historian flags hidden message in Trump's 'extremely grave' threat
A historian flagged a hidden message buried in President Donald Trump's "extremely grave" threat to Iran.
On Tuesday morning, Trump posted on Truth Social that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again," a thinly veiled reference to the U.S. destroying Iran in response to the country shutting down the Strait of Hormuz. Trump's threat sent shockwaves throughout the world, with several lawmakers calling on the president to be removed via the 25th Amendment.
Historian Heather Cox Richardson flagged a message buried in Trump's post and highlighted it during her most recent "Politics Chat" video on YouTube.
"Clearly, he is threatening Iran," Richardson said. "I would also suggest that, at some level, he is threatening the United States. If, in fact, the United States destroys another country, in what is a war of choice, we will never be the same again. So Iran won't be, but we will not be either."
Richardson added that Trump's threat shows he is "deteriorating" mentally.
"The President of the United States is incapable of fulfilling his job," Richardson said. "He is in serious mental trouble. He is deteriorating."
