Trump Reveals Possible Plan for After He Finishes 2nd Term in Office. It Involves Another Political Role
Donald Trump alleged that he could continue his political career after wrapping up his second term in office with a new role.
The 79-year-old president has repeatedly implied that he’d like to run for a third and even a fourth term leading the United States. However, he is expressly prohibited from doing so by the Constitution.
During a press conference on Monday (April 6), Trump jokingly alluded to a way that his career could continue after the 2028 presidential election.

While speaking to the assembled press, Trump hinted that he could run for office in Venezuela after his military action in the country led to the detainment of the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, in January 2026.
The Republican insisted that he was “polling higher than anybody has ever polled in Venezuela.”
“So after I’m finished with this, I can go to Venezuela. I will quickly learn Spanish. It won’t take too long; I’m good at language. And I will go to Venezuela. I’m going to run for president,” he said.
Trump added that his administration was “happy with the president-elect,” Delcy Rodríguez.
His comments come after the president reposted a doctored Wikipedia page on Truth Social earlier this year. The entry referred to him as the “acting president of Venezuela.”
He has also previously alluded to plans to make three other territories, including Venezuela, part of the United States.
