Olive oil is one of those ingredients that stars in almost everyone’s kitchens. It’s light and versatile and can be used in myriad recipes across various cultures. There’s one olive oil sold by Giada De Laurentiis’ Giadzy brand that has become a favorite in many households because it’s citrus-flavored. And although it’s been out of stock for some time, it’s officially back — and there’s a delicious cake recipe from De Laurentiis that allows the orange flavor to really shine.
“In honor of @thegiadzy bringing our orange olive oil back, sharing my fav spring orange olive oil cake,” De Laurentiis wrote in a recent Instagram caption. The cake, which calls for sugar, eggs, orange zest, milk, orange-infused olive oil, flour, baking powder, and toasted almonds, is light, moist, and fluffy, and perfect for pairing with coffee.
De Laurentiis shared the entire recipe in her video. It’s so simple to make, and because the ingredients are simple, the orange flavor really stands out.
The orange-infused olive oil De Laurentiis loves is Sorrento’s Orange Olive Oil, which also comes in a lemon-infused version. It’s described on the Giadzy website as “ultra fragrant” and will remind you of the Italian sunshine. It’s the next best thing to buying fresh oranges straight from the Amalfi coast.
It’s best used as a finishing oil for salad dressings or drizzling over fish or meat. But baking with the oil really brings out the flavor, too.

“I really love this oil. It’s delicate and light, and full of citrus flavor,” another reviewer wrote. “It complements salads and fish brilliantly. I’m excited to try it out in various ways. The possibilities seem deliciously endless.”
And those who have tried the orange olive oil cake say that it’s a delight. “That is the nicest little cake… soft and moist… super easy… I have reordered the orange olive oil… I love this cake… perfect for tea time,” one person wrote.
So if you haven’t yet tried Sorrento’s Orange Olive Oil, now is your chance to do so. You’ll love it in this summery cake and find so many other ways to use it.
