Health ministry backs science-based policy on World Health Day
The ministry noted that the day serves as a reminder that health is a fundamental human right and a moral obligation towards every individual, regardless of age, gender, origin or socioeconomic status.
“Health, as defined by the World Health Organisation, is not merely the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing,” the statement said.
Under this year’s slogan, “Together for health. Stand with science”, a global campaign is being launched calling on governments, scientists, institutions and the public to support science and adopt evidence-based policies to protect health.
The ministry said it continues to support efforts to advance science and participates in EU-level actions aimed at strengthening population health and shaping policies grounded in scientific evidence.
“Human health has improved significantly thanks to scientific progress and its achievements,” the ministry said, adding that future developments will depend on how science-driven approaches are developed and implemented, based on global solidarity and cooperation.
