AI involvement in the club
I don't post too often on here, but the post by Rags about AI music got me thinking about all mentions about AI by Tom Wagner in the Open Houses.
I seem to recall him talking about their custom AI modelling predicting where we where in the league at that point and it's predictions about our season in League one and how accurate it was.
It's been mentioned to death on here how it has been used to identify players in the recruitment department, but after the players were identified there has still been human decision making based on the data.
But what AI model are they using to predict league positions? Because that is incredibly different to player recruitment.
That got me wondering... have they been using AI to influence decision making as well?
Analysing player performances and fitness statistics? Have they used it to suggest potential squad choices?
Does it make sense having a young manager who might be open to using new technology like AI decide who you hire/or keep on in the hope that AI makes progression quicker?
If they got it right, they would probably have a model that they could sell for a profit to most clubs around the world.
It's been 35°c here in Argentina and I've had quite a few cheap Quilmes beers to pass the day, so I might be thinking too much into this!
