Paul Feig Wants Sydney Sweeney as the Next James Bond

Since Amazon took control of the James Bond franchise, there have been rumors that the company's boss, Jeff Bezos, wants Sydney Sweeney to be the next Bond Girl. While recently speaking to The Sun, the director of her 2025 erotic thriller, The Housemaid, was asked about her taking on that role. Instead of backing her casting as the next Bond Girl, the famed director Paul Feig argued Sydney Sweeney should be the next James Bond.

“I’d rather Sydney be the next Bond. There have been some cool Bond girls, but come on, let her be the super-spy, she’s great. She’s one of the hardest-working people I know, so professional, so smart, so savvy. I think she’d be a good spy."

Months earlier, in October 2025, Sweeney addressed the rumors herself. While talking to Variety, she was asked if she would be interested in portraying a Bond girl. The outlet's report on the interview described her as unraveling when asked about the rumors before she pulled hserself together and expressed excitement about the franchise's future.

“I can’t," she said before taking a seven-second pause. "I don’t know." After another long pause she added, "To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumors, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it." When pressed further on whether she would play a Bond Girl, Sweeney replied, “Depends on the script. I think I’d have more fun as James Bond.”

Vincent D'Onofrio Backs Arty Froushan for James Bond

An actor on the rise, Arty Froushan has built an impressive resume with roles in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Carnival Row, and House of the Dragon. Most notably, he is currently standing out due to his starring role in Daredevil: Born Again as the Kingpin's right-hand man, Buck Cashman. It is his popular performance in that Marvel Cinematic Universe show that recently resulted in him being suggested to become the next 007.

On March 27, 2026, the X user @AlyxInWndrland posted an image of Froushan from Daredevil: Born Again beside a photo of James Bond. Alongside the two images, they added the simple caption, "hear me out."

Even though he wasn't tagged in the X post and there was no obvious reason for him to discover it, Vincent D'Onofrio somehow saw the post. The actor who portrays The Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again commented on the post to offer his support for Froushan becoming Bond. "I agree."
