Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Get Unexpected NASA Shoutout During Artemis II Mission
The Artemis II crew entered Day 5 of its 10-day mission on Monday, setting a new all-time record for human distance away from Earth as they made their lunar flyby around the far side of the moon.
At 1:57 p.m. ET on Monday, the four person crew surpassed the previous record of 248,655 miles set by the Apollo 13 crew in 1970. The journey will take astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen a maximum distance of 252,752 miles from Earth.
These four astronauts are the first people in history to view the far side of the moon with the naked human eye.
The night before this historic lunar flyby mission, NASA took to social media to resurface an old post from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
"The moon looks crazy tonight... Imma chill out here for a little and just visualize my success n vibe to the scenary," Kelce wrote in 2010, when he was 20 years old.
NASA responded to the post with "It's been a long time coming," the opening lyric to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour intro.
It's been a long time coming...????

Like Kelce, the Artemis II crew found itself lost in the magic of looking at the moon.
Wiseman, NASA astronaut and Artemis II commander, radioed mission control with a message about the moon's beauty on Sunday night.
“The four of us have looked at the moon our entire lives, and the way we are responding to what we’re seeing out the window is just like we’re a bunch of kids up here,” Wiseman said. “We cannot get enough of this. It’s amazing.”
