FDA Recalls Garlic Over Deadly Botulism Risk
The FDA is recalling Christopher Ranch Peeled Garlic and Garland Peeled Garlic because it may be contaminated. The garlic was not stored at the correct cool temperature and was discovered during a routine inspection. Botulism is sneaky; you might not smell or taste a difference.
Botulism Symptoms
Botulism can make you very sick and, in some cases, be life-threatening.
- Dizziness,
- Double-vision
- Trouble swallowing
- Weakness
- Constipation
- Abdominal distension (when it sticks out)

The garlic was distributed through Tops Markets in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. The recalled products are identified as follows:
- Christopher Ranch Peeled Garlic, 6 oz., packed in plastic bags with UPC 74574-10852 , all product code dates
- Garland Fresh Peeled Garlic, 6 oz., packed in plastic bags with a UPCs of 71894-00000 and 68826-75340, all product code dates.
