Liveblog: Cole Caufield still looking for 50th goal, Canadiens trail Devils 2-0
The Montreal Canadiens (45-21-10) may have already clinched a playoff berth earlier today, but they can still make moves in the standings with a win over the New Jersey Devils (39-34-3) Sunday at the Bell Centre.

Here’s what you need to know:
- The Canadiens punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup playoffs on Sunday afternoon when the Detroit Red Wings lost to the Minnesota Wild.
- The Habs and Devils played each other last night. The Canadiens won 4-3 on the road in a shootout and reached 100 points on the season in the process.
- Forward Cole Caufield scored in said shootout on Saturday, but is still looking for his 50th goal on the season.
- Jacob Fowler will start in goal with Jakub Dobes backing him up. Otherwise no lineup changes from Saturday.
- The Habs begin a four-game homestand. They’ve won eight in a row, including all five games on their recent road trip.

First Period: Meier strikes early
The Devils opened scoring just as the game’s first penalty to Kaiden Guhle expired. Jack Hughes tucked the puck under Fowler and Timo Meier finished the job. Habs were outshot 9-4 in the period. 1-0 Devils
Some fans came prepared in case Caufield reaches the 50-goal mark tonight.
Second Period: Devils extend lead
With 1:48 left in the middle frame, Cody Glass gave the Devils an all-important two-goal lead by splitting the defence and beating Fowler. Habs had only eight shots on goal after 40 minutes. 2-0 Devils
