Houghton Hall's Latest Instagram Post Seemingly Confirmed a Long-Standing Rumor About Rose Hanbury
When you think of Rose Hanbury, chances are you think about the incessant rumors about the alleged affair between her and Prince William (which have been disproven). The Marchioness of Cholmondeley has stayed quiet over the years, making ultra-rare appearances at royal events and at the Christian Dior Women’s Wear Spring/Summer 2026 show in 2025, but many wonder what she’s been up to. Along with her interior design work, and working on Houghton Hall, it seems a longstanding rumor about what she’s doing has seemingly been confirmed.
The Houghton Hall account shared a new post earlier this week with the caption reading, “Spring flowers in the bathroom I created recently using old deft tiles that were here at Houghton plus antique plates and Imari vases that I have collected over the years #erythroniumpagoda #narcissus #cowslip.”
The interior design and the caption saying “I” have people convinced Hanbury is the one running the account. This was seemingly confirmed when someone wrote: “SO pretty Rosa. Perfection! ????????????” and the account said “thanks darling xx.”
So, despite having her own account that she’s never posted on (@rosecholmondeley), it seems she’s busy running the official Houghton Hall page.

For those who don’t know, Kate and Rose have been considered best friends for years. There was a time when they weren’t often together, leading many to believe there was a falling out, and thus, those affair rumors started. (Writers Giles Coren and Nicole Cliffe both claimed they knew about the alleged affair between William and Hanbury in 2019, per IBTimes.)
Despite no physical or tangible proof of an affair besides deleted tweets and hearsay, the rumors persisted for years. While Kate and Hanbury have allegedly reconnected after King Charles III’s Coronation, they’ve mostly stayed quiet about the situation.
