SAIL's Special Steel Powers INS Taragiri: India's Defence Manufacturing Boost
Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has significantly boosted India's defence manufacturing by supplying indigenous special steel for the stealth frigate INS Taragiri, commissioned on April 3, 2026. Bokaro Steel Plant, along with SAIL's Bhilai and Rourkela plants, provided nearly 4,000 tonnes of special-grade steel for the warship, underscoring the nation's growing strategic strength and confidence.
