Is Walmart open or closed on Easter Sunday 2026? After all, it's a good place to pick up an Easter basket or candy, presuming you haven't already done so.
It turns out that you will be in luck. "Walmart will be an option for shoppers, as its store will remain open under regular hours on Easter. Most Walmart locations are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily," USA Today reported.
You can check the Walmart store locator. "Use the Walmart store locator to find your nearest Walmart locations, check store hours, and find services like Grocery Pickup, Pharmacy, Vision Centre, Photo Centre, and more," the locator says.
Walmart Operates More Than 10,000 Stores Globally

Walmart has a large footprint. "Today, Walmart operates more than 10,800 stores and clubs in 19 countries and eCommerce websites. As of the end of FY2026, we employed approximately 2.1 million associates worldwide, with approximately 1.6 million associates in the U.S.," Walmart says on its website.
"From our humble beginnings as a small discount retailer in Rogers, Ark., Walmart has opened thousands of stores in the United States and expanded internationally," Walmart notes on its website.
The chain has a history that dates back to the early 1960s.
"On July 2, 1962, Sam Walton opens the first Walmart store in Rogers, Arkansas," the chain wrote. By 1967, "The Walton family owns 24 stores, ringing up $12.7 million in sales." Two years later, "The company officially incorporates as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. In the 1970's, a decade of incredible growth, 'Mr. Sam' begins to take Walmart national, providing his vision's widespread appeal."
In 1970, "Walmart becomes a publicly traded company. The first stock is sold at $16.50 per share." In 1972, "Walmart is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (WMT). With 51 stores, Walmart records sales of $78 million." In 1983, "The first Sam's Club opens in Midwest City, Oklahoma."

Some Other Retail Stores Will Be Closed on Easter Sunday 2026
Although Walmart stores will be open, Target stores will be closed on Easter Sunday 2026, according to USA Today.
Costco and Sam's Club warehouses are also closed this Easter, USA Today. However, Walgreens and Costco stores should be open.
Various restaurants will be open like Starbucks and McDonald's.
