Investigation launched as elderly driver dies
Police are investigating the cause of death of an 86-year-old man who died while driving on the Analiontas-Tseri road on Sunday.
Under circumstances that are being investigated, he lost control of the car, hit a traffic sign and came to a standstill.
The fire service had earlier announced that it had had to use special equipment to cut the man out of the car as he had been trapped inside.
The elderly man was taken to Nicosia general hospital, where his death was certified.
An autopsy will be carried out to establish cause of death, while police said they are investigating if his death was due to natural causes.
