'Desperado' Lyrics & English Translation: T.O.P Returns With First Solo Music in Over a Decade

T.O.P is back.

The 38-year-old former member of Big Bang has returned after over a decade since 2013′s “DOOM DADA” as a solo artist.

Along with his album ANOTHER DIMENSION, T.O.P released double title tracks “DESPERADO” and “Studio54.”

All the songs on his new album were written and composed by T.O.P, with additional composition by JACKPOT, BCalm, Maxwell Perla, HOLISHIP, Kim English, Frankie Feliciano, Archie Thompson, and Vincent John.

“This time, I used a narrative approach I’ve never attempted before, with complex sonic structures. When people listen, they should experience a wide range of emotions…this album is about organizing my past self and crossing into a completely new chapter. I no longer want to repeat the past. This album represents a new identity,” he said in an interview with GQ Hype.

T.O.P debuted on the K-pop scene in 2006 as rapper and vocalist of Big Bang. He later played Thanos in Squid Game – and the creative team behind the hit series also helped collaborate on his music video and album.

“All projects and planning were kept highly confidential, so some reports are correct while others are inaccurate. What was confirmed first is that Squid Game 2 cinematographer Kim Ji-yong serves as the MV’s chief director, while art director Chae Kyoung-sun oversees all production design and set creation. The cinematography and art teams who worked together on Squid Game returned for this MV, creating something meaningful, something historic. And Chae Kyoung-sun served as the art director for my physical album. She, her art team, and I are incredibly excited about designing it. Being able to present fans with an album that is truly extraordinary, experimental and beautiful like an art piece, makes me extremely excited,” he explained.
