Carrick will be delighted: Man Utd star returns to individual training, could play vs Leeds
Manchester United star Patrick Dorgu has taken a big step in his recovery.
Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury during the 3-2 victory over Arsenal in January.
United have now confirmed that the Denmark international has returned to individual training at Carrington.
It is a huge boost for head coach Michael Carrick, who is preparing his squad for the final seven games of the 2025-26 season.
Dorgu suffered the setback at the worst possible time. He was in lethal form, scoring sublime goals against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Under Carrick, he thrived in an advanced role on the wing, combining defensive discipline with attacking flair to stretch opposition defences.
His direct running and willingness to take on full-backs added a new dimension to United’s attack.
While Matheus Cunha has impressed on the left flank, Dorgu’s return would give Carrick far greater tactical flexibility.
There is still room for improvement, particularly in his defensive positioning when deployed as a traditional left-back.
United signed Dorgu from Serie A outfit Lecce in January 2025. He was primarily signed to play as a wing-back but the Red Devils are now expected to operate in a back-four system.
United are set to return to Premier League action against Leeds United on April 13.
His return to individual training suggests that he could be fully fit for the crucial clash.
Carrick and his players will travel to the Republic of Ireland on April 6 for an intensive training camp in Dublin. Dorgu is expected to be part of those training sessions.
