Manga giant’s films brought to life
The enchanting melodies and visuals of the world of the Japanese animator and filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki will come to life next week in three concerts across Cyprus. The chamber orchestra The Symphonians presents the concert series Music of Miyazaki World in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos.
Thrilling tracks and compositions from Miyazaki’s legendary animated films with soundtracks by Joe Hisaishi and other composers will sound in local theatres while colourful animations from iconic cartoons will unfold on the big screen.
“Hayao Miyazaki’s legendary animated films have long ceased to be just cartoons,” comment organisers, “they are whole worlds full of wonders, deep emotions and, of course, unforgettable music. Now the amazing soundtracks of Joe Hisaishi and other composers that sounded in Spirited Away, Gone with the Ghosts, My Neighbor Totoro, The Walking Castle and other masterpieces will find a new, lively sound.”
Bringing this emotive universe to the stage is a collective of professional musicians who come from different backgrounds and countries, united by their passion for music. This month they will perform in front of Cyprus audiences in Paphos on April 7, in Nicosia on April 8 and in Limassol on April 9.
