GOP losing patience with Trump after latest firings
The Republican Party is losing patience with President Donald Trump over his frequent Cabinet dismissals, political analyst Chris Stirewalt wrote for The Hill.
Trump recently fired both his Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi, causing concern among GOP leaders facing potential losses of both the House and Senate in midterm elections.
Stirewalt noted acting Attorney General Todd Blanche can legally serve without Senate confirmation until October, suggesting Trump may delay formal confirmation to avoid a contentious Senate fight. Stirewalt also warned that whoever serves as attorney general will ultimately fail Trump's expectations, as Bondi did, because Trump demands results, control, and absolute loyalty simultaneously.
"Ultimately, no attorney general can be what the president wants them to be. Judges, grand juries, career DOJ employees and others stand in the way of the kind of enforcement Trump is looking for."
