‘Kicking a** and taking names’: Stunning endorsement of possible replacement for Pam Bondi
An ardent anti-Trump activist, Hillary Clinton lawyer Marc Elias, has delivered a stunning endorsement of Harmeet Dhillon, now head of the DOJ’s civil rights division, as a possible replacement for departed Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Actually, not an “endorsement” as such but such a virulent condemnation that observers say she must be doing something really great.
His comment:
As head of the Civil Rights Division — the unit historically responsible for enforcing federal voting rights law — Dhillon has overseen a dramatic shift away from protecting voting rights towards attacking them. https://t.co/R11FaddVBP

To which a commentary at Twitchy said, “The news yesterday that President Trump had fired Attorney General Pam Bondi had barely been announced before rumors started swirling about who would replace her. For now, Deputy AG Todd Blanche has assumed an interim position, but there has been a huge (YUGE, even) groundswell of support already for Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights.”
The commentary noted complaints concerning Bondi included that she was not moving quickly enough to prosecute lawbreakers.
“No one has similar complaints about Dhillon, who has been, pardon the expression, kicking a** and taking names at Civil Rights. She and her team have been putting corrupt states on notice — and on trial — for fraudulent voter rolls and election fraud, violations of Title IX, and attempts to restrict Second Amendment rights, just to name a few of her priorities,” it said.
But, as if another reason was needed, “there is perhaps none better than the fact that corrupt, disgraced Clinton lawyer Marc Elias hates her.”
Comments included, if leftists are complaining, “Harmeet is doing a great job.”
And, “Far left Democrat lawyer, Marc. E. Elias, making the case for @HarmeetKDhillon as Trump’s new attorney general.”
And, “You list only 3 points again[st] @AAGDhillon and all 3 make me want her as AG even more.”
And, “If this evil empty suit is trashing Harmeet, th[e]n Harmeet is who we want!”
The Washington Examiner noted Deputy AG Todd Blanche is taking over temporarily.
But he’s already more than a “temporary placeholder,” the report said.
Also on the list would be Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin, “in part because he checks several of Trump’s boxes at once,” the report said.
Other possibilities, the report said, include U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton, and former DOJ official Jeff Clark.
The report explained, “Trump has made clear, both publicly and privately, that he wants an attorney general who delivers visible results, including progress on investigations involving figures he believes have targeted him politically.”
It added, “So far, efforts to indict figures such as New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey have failed for procedural reasons. For now, Blanche is positioned to demonstrate whether he can thread that needle.”
AAG Harmeet Dhillon is being talked about as a potential candidate for Attorney General.
Here she is recently explaining her initiative to keep men out of women’s prisons:
