Molotov cocktails: Terror allegations trigger arrest of Islamic leader from Milwaukee

A prominent Islamic leader from Milwaukee, known for multiple appearances at fundraising events for “Squad” member Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., Salah Sarsour, has been arrested by the Department of Homeland Security on allegations he lobbed Molotov cocktails at the homes of Israeli soldiers.

He lied on his immigration application and became a green card holder under President Clinton.

A report at the Gateway Pundit said Sarsour is prominent in Muslim circles, being the president of the board of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, which is Wisconsin’s biggest mosque. He’s also a board member for the American Muslims for Palestine activist organization.

He’s in custody in Indiana for now.

“DHS says Sarsour is a terrorist and was convicted of throwing Molotov cocktails at the homes of Israeli soldiers. Sarsour then allegedly lied on his U.S. immigration applications to obtain a green card under President Bill Clinton,” the report said.

The DHS statement said, “Today, @ICEgov arrested a Jordanian national with a prior conviction for THROWING A MOLOTOV COCKTAIL at the homes of Israeli Forces. … He lied on his immigration application and became a green card holder under President Clinton. This terrorist will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.”

He also reportedly raised money for the Holy Land Foundation, which was shut down by the federal government in 2008 when it was convicted of funneling some $12 million to Hamas terrorists.

According to the Daily Mail, Sarsour, besides being linked to Tlaib, also was previously linked to “groups allegedly connected to Hamas.”

Sarsour, 53, was apprehended in a “targeted operation” in Milwaukee.

Sarsour has no criminal charges but, according to the report, DHS revealed he still is considered a target due to his history.

“Othman Atta, the executive director of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, told the New York Times that Sarsour had been arrested when he was a teenager in the West Bank,” the report said.

It reported Atta claimed Sarsour was victimized through “brutal torture by Israeli Defense Forces.”

Atta claimed the allegations relate “back to when he was a teenager in the West Bank.

The Muslim Legal Fund of America is working on behalf of Sarsour.

The legal team said, “Salah’s story represents precisely the immigrant-refugee success story that should be celebrated, not demonized, as the cornerstone of this country’s professed values.”

It blamed his arrest on “structural racism.”
