Trump begs for 'more time' in Iran war so US can 'take the oil and make a fortune'
President Donald Trump took to social media Friday to insist that the United States could “easily” achieve its objectives in its war against Iran, “take the oil” and “make a fortune,” but only if afforded “a little more time.”
“With a little more time, we can easily OPEN THE HORMUZ STRAIT, TAKE THE OIL, & MAKE A FORTUNE,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “IT WOULD BE A ‘GUSHER’ FOR THE WORLD???”
Despite saying the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran was “pretty much” complete back on March 9, the Trump administration has struggled to achieve any of its war objectives, including toppling the Iranian government and removing its capabilities of acquiring a nuclear weapon. Furthermore, the Trump administration has found a new objective since launching the war – re-opening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping channel – that it has also failed to achieve.
At least 15 American service members have died in the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, though recent reporting suggests that the Pentagon has been hiding additional casualties, with a Thursday report from the Intercept speculating that nearly 750 American service members have been “wounded or killed” in the conflict.
