13-Year-Old Girl from Arizona Found Alive after Missing for 32 Years
One of the most baffling and chilling missing persons cases in Arizona history has been closed with a happy ending.
After a 32-year search, authorities in Arizona have located Christina Marie Plante safely. Now in her 40s, Plante went missing when she was just 13 on May 15, 1994, in Payson, Arizona.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Gila County Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd announced that Christina Marie Plante was recently "located alive."
Shepherd wouldn't go into specific details to retain Plante's privacy, though he said they were able to solve the case with "advances in technology, modern investigative techniques, and detailed case review."
Per TMZ, authorities at the time considered Plante's disappearance "suspicious." She reportedly left her home to visit her horse at a nearby stable.
Investigators had little information to go on at the time, but their perseverance and dedication to the case have brought a happy conclusion.

It's easy to understand why loved ones of missing persons might give up hope. There are countless cases where police have no forensic evidence, witnesses or firm timelines to act on.
But the happy ending for Christina Marie Plante's case is a firm reminder to never give up hope. Sometimes, a resolution comes when it's least expected.
Just 11 months ago, authorities in Sauk County, Wisconsin, announced that they found 82-year-old Audrey Jean Backeberg safely. She was reported missing from Reedbsurg, Wisconsin, in 1962.
Backeberg was 20 when she was reported missing. As it turned out, she disappeared voluntarily.
In 2022, authorities closed the disappearance of Melissa Highsmith. She was only 22 months when she was abducted by a newly-hired babysitter in Fort Worth, Texas. Authorities used 23andMe to track down Highsmith, who was found alive and safe in Fort Worth. Highsmith was reunited with her family after 51 years.
