VACANCY: U18s HEAD COACH (Paid role)

Royston Town FC is seeking an ambitious and development-focused U18 Head Coach to play a key role in shaping the club’s future.

Working closely with the existing U18 management team, as well as the U23 and First Team staff, this is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated coach to contribute to a clearly defined player pathway and help develop the next generation of talent at the club.

 

About the Role

This is a pivotal position within the club, focused on preparing players for progression into U23 and First Team football, while maintaining a competitive edge on the pitch.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality coaching sessions, supporting matchday operations, and ensuring that player development aligns with the club’s overall playing philosophy.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and review engaging, high-quality training sessions
• Support all matchday activity, including tactics, team selection and in-game management
• Create and oversee individual player development plans
• Identify and recruit players suited to the club’s pathway
• Align training and match performance with First Team principles
• Support player progression into U23 and senior football
• Communicate effectively with players, parents and club staff
• Work collaboratively with U23 and First Team coaches

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a coach who combines a passion for player development with a strong competitive mindset. The ideal candidate will be:

• Ambitious, driven and committed to long-term player development
• An excellent communicator with strong organisational skills
• Professional, reliable and consistent in their approach
• Confident in managing and motivating players aged 16–18
• Comfortable working within a structured club pathway

Experience & Qualifications

• UEFA B Licence preferred
• Strong UEFA C candidates will be considered
• Experience in academy or elite youth football environments
• Proven experience working with players aged 16–18

 

Additional Information

• This is a paid role, with salary discussed at interview
• Training and matches take place on midweek evenings
• Full attendance is expected (a training-only role may be considered for an exceptional candidate)
