Anti-Trump protesters gather outside US embassy
Fossil Free London activists protested outside the U.S. Embassy in London on April 1, demonstrating against President Donald Trump's war with Iran and its impact on oil prices and energy costs.
The gathering began at 8:15 a.m. local time, with protesters painting their faces, posing next to mock gas pumps, and having fake oil poured on their heads.
An activist who called herself Rainbow explained to The Mirror that the protest aimed to highlight the damage of fossil fuel dependency, saying, "We need to break away from these [damaging systems]."
Fellow activist Rosie emphasized, "Trump's illegal war on Iran has led to massive spikes in the cost of our energy here in the UK," noting BP and Shell are projected to profit $5 billion from the conflict.
Rosie criticized Trump and Nigel Farage for using the crisis as an excuse to expand fossil fuel drilling instead of pursuing renewable energy.
Campaign signs read "Stop Trump tying us into fossil fuels" and "Break free from big oil."
