Lizzo Reveals She Didn't Have Sex for First Time Until Her Early 30s, Shares the Reason Why
Lizzo has revealed a detail about her first sexual experience.
In a new podcast interview, she explained that she waited until her early 30s to have sex for the first time.
“I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy,” she disclosed on an episode of the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast.
Lizzo, who is now 37, won her first Grammy in January of 2020. That night, she won Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts,” Best Urban Contemporary Album for the deluxe version of Cuz I Love You, and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Jerome.”

She explained that while she did not lose her virginity on Grammys night in 2020, she didn’t wait too long after. Lizzo did not disclose her age at the time she first was intimate, but given that she was born in April of 1988, it’s assumed it happened when she was 31-32.
“I lied about it for a long time. I feel a weight off of my chest right now,” she added.
She also recalled her friend group figuring it out while they were in college.
“We were all girling one night, and it was like, ‘Wait, Lizzo, are you a virgin?’ And I remember being like, ‘No!’” she said. “I was remember it was so embarrassing. I said, ‘I love the D’… And it held me over for a little while,” she said.
She did not have her first kiss until age 21, citing religion. “Like, when we were teenagers at my church, we all made a pact that we wouldn’t do anything before marriage. And then, I was just so scared. Like, nobody wanted to kiss me.”
She’s been linked to Myke Wright since 2021.
