Sen. Lindsey Graham Speaks Out, Explains Why He Was at Disney World Amid Government Shutdown
Lindsey Graham, the Republican Senator from South Carolina, is speaking out after he was exposed for enjoying a Disney World vacation while the government is partially shut down.
The 70-year-old politician was slammed by TMZ and social media users after he was seen at the Florida theme park over the weekend. He was photographed enjoying a meal at Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort, carrying a bubble wand around the Tangled section of Magic Kingdom, and riding Space Mountain.
TMZ has been posting photos and videos of lawmakers enjoying their vacations while federal workers go unpaid. Congress is in a two-week paid recess as the partial government shutdown continues amid battles over funding the Department of Homeland Security, now the longest in history.
Graham released a statement to TMZ about his trip.

“I was invited to a meeting in South Florida on Friday with Trump official Steve Witkoff … to talk about the possibility of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel. I went to Orlando to meet friends after. I’m already back in South Carolina,” he said.
When criticized about the trip, Graham responded, “I voted 7 times to fully fund the government. Call a Democrat.”
One celebrity even tried to pay TSA workers himself amid the shutdown, but workers are being forced to return the gifts.
