Sutherland Curling Club – Feb. 28 to Mar. 1, 2026
The 2026 CURLSASK Wheelchair Provincial Championship brought wheelchair curling teams from across Saskatchewan to the Sutherland Curling Club for an exciting weekend of adapted sport competition. Curlers showcased strategy, teamwork, and precision, with the top teams vying for the provincial title and the opportunity to represent Saskatchewan at the 2025 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championships. Wheelchair curling in Saskatchewan continues to grow as a competitive and inclusive division of our sport.
Team Andrews: skip Pete Andrews, third Jason Ough, second Steve Draude, lead Ashley Baerg – Sutherland Curling Club and CN Curling Club (Saskatoon) Team Wright: skip Gilbert Dash, third Marie Wright, lead Moose Gibson, coach Ben Gamble – Moose Jaw Curling Centre
The provincial championship was decided in a best-of-three series between Team Wright and Team Andrews.
- Game 1: Team Andrews won 10‑6, taking an early lead in the series.
- Game 2: Team Wright bounced back with a 9‑2 win to tie the series.
- Game 3 (Winner-Takes-All): Team Wright captured the championship with an 8‑3 victory. Key moments included a four-ender in the third end, two points in the sixth, and a steal of two in the seventh, which secured their win and the provincial title.
Congratulations to Team Wright! Skip Gil Dash, third Marie Wright, lead Moose Gibson, and Coach Ben Gamble from the Moose Jaw Curing Centre! They will go on to represent Saskatchewan at the 2026 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship, April 27 – May 2 in Boucherville, Qué. Thank you to the Sutherland Curling Club for hosting this event!
