Morning Briefing: Mets’ Opening Day Game Set Viewership Record
Good morning, Mets fans!
Anthony Rieber of Newsday reported that the Pirates-Mets 1 p.m. ET game on Thursday averaged 2.3 million viewers across NBC and Peacock, making it the most-watched Opening Day afternoon game on record. Although Mets fans missed GKR, millions of eyeballs on the team was not a bad thing in the resounding win.
Last night, the Mets beat the Cardinals 4-2 in a bounce-back game to take the series opener. They will play next on Tuesday night at 7:45 p.m. ET, the middle game of a three-game set, as Kodai Senga takes the mound for his first start of the season.
