He tells People that the show is ultimately about a “friend group that has complicated feelings towards each other because of what happened last season.”
“We’re navigating through that. I think what the writers have done so brilliantly is they’ve kept the love between us all. It feels like a real friend group,” Owen shared. “When the going gets tough, you still choose your friends. There’s definitely some drama, which I think is a lot of fun. It’s also fun for my character because Anton is truly so guarded.”
As for what’s fun about season two, Owen says he is “playing with his depth and his vulnerability and showing that to people.”
In addition to Adults, Owen is next set to film the upcoming A24 comedy Peaked, which also counts Alex Consani, Dua Lipa, Connor Storrie and Molly Gordon as part of the cast. Then, he will go to film Prime Video’s Overcompensating season two, and he also gushed about working with friends on these projects.
“It feels really fun,” he told People. “It feels like I’m going from a job where I’m working with my best friends, Adults, and then I’m going to a movie with a friend I’ve known since I was 2, and then I’m going to another show where [Benito Skinner] is creating, and he’s one of my best friends.”
“I feel like I’m just hanging out with my friends, and I’m so lucky because they work so much, and so I’m lucky to see them while they work. It doesn’t feel like work,” Owen added.
