Jose Medina-Medina, the Venezuelan illegal alien who shot and killed 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman earlier this month, is unable to read or write and has severe brain damage, according to his attorney.
Not only is he a criminal who was released back onto the street after a prior arrest, but he’s mentally incompetent.
This is the “best and brightest” who Biden and the Left want to flood our country with.
The teen was shot and killed near campus in Chicago, Illinois, over the weekend by the 25-year-old illegal alien who entered the US under the Biden Regime and was later arrested, then released from local custody under Chicago’s sanctuary city policies.
According to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, whose policies allowed this violent killer to roam free, however, Trump is to blame for Gorman’s death. As The Gateway Pundit reported, Pritzker credited “a failure to have comprehensive immigration reform” and “a failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst” for the murder.
During a court hearing on Friday, Medina, who is charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, reportedly became “sick off camera” and closed his eyes several times.
His public defender, Julie Koehler, told the court that he grew up in Venezuela and attended school only until he was seven years old. He is completely illiterate.
As a teenager, he was allegedly shot in the head during a 2018 robbery while living in Colombia, and he now has brain damage, stunted development, and memory problems.
He also allegedly contracted tuberculosis in a migrant shelter after he illegally entered the United States, the attorney said.
Kholer is requesting that he remain in detention pending trial in order to evade a detainer and pending arrest from ICE upon his release. She claims that he could be deported to a third country “without the benefit of due process.”
The victim’s family said in a statement that “nothing said in that courtroom” changes the reality they face of losing a young daughter. They further questioned, “How does something like this happen in a place where a young woman should have been safe?” noting, “That is not a political question. It is a human one.”
She was 18 years old. She was exactly where she was supposed to be—living her life, surrounded by friends, doing something entirely normal. There was nothing reckless, nothing unusual, nothing that should have placed her in danger. And yet, she is gone. That is the reality we are forced to confront. And nothing said in that courtroom changes it.
What we heard today forces a broader question that cannot be ignored: How does something like this happen in a place where a young woman should have been safe?
That is not a political question. It is a human one. Because if we allow ourselves to accept this as inevitable—as something that simply happens—then we are accepting a world where young people cannot safely live their lives in the most ordinary ways. That is a standard no family should be asked to accept.
