Alkinoos Ioannides to kick off summer tour in Cyprus
Perhaps, it feels too soon to look forward to summer events when Easter has not even arrived and the weather forecast has rain, clouds and sun all in one day. Yet time tends to fly and before we know it, the What’s On agenda will be all about music festivals and summer escapes.
Renowned Cypriot singer Alkinoos Ioannides has announced he will kick off his summer tour from his homeland with two concerts.
Joining him on stage are four Cypriot musicians, new collaborators who enrich his songs with their own approaches through the sounds of strings and percussions. On keyboard, Marios Takoushis will add to Ioannides’ soundscape, while Lefteris Moumtzis plays the bass, Giannis Koutis switches between the oud, the guitar and percussion instruments, and Nicolas Tsangaris gives the beat on the drums as Ioannides is centre stage serenading audiences with his voice and guitar.
With different orchestrations, the programme is characterised by moments of great intensity and emotion, but also the joy of this encounter, the communication of the musicians among themselves and the audience, the freedom of improvisation and the coexistence of different musical worlds.
Catch them on June 12 at the Lakatamia Municipal Amphitheatre and on June 13 at the Curium Ancient Theatre. Tickets are already available for purchase via the Sold Out Ticket platform.
