Bride Is Accused of Being an 'Entitled, Spoiled Brat' & 'Terrible' After Revealing a Conversation She Had with Her Sister

A woman decided not to ask her sister to play a key role in her wedding, and now she doesn’t understand where things went wrong as others call her “entitled” and a “terrible sister.”

Taking to Reddit’s “Am I the A–hole” forum, the bride-to-be explained that she and her partner were coming up on their big day. However, the excitement has been soured due to a fight with her sister.

In her post, the bride-to-be noted that her wedding was just a few weeks ago and that she’d been working with her sister to get everything planned.

That help dried up “about a month ago,” when her sister learned that she wouldn’t be serving as maid of honor at the wedding.

“First you have to understand that before now we haven’t had a very ‘sisterly’ connection for sometime now,” the Redditor said, explaining why she was confused by her sister’s reaction. “We barely even [talked] until the planning of my wedding.”

While she said her sister “was helpful,” she felt that she needed “someone I have a serious connection with by my side on that day, someone who knows me well.”

The nearlywed added that she “never” told her sister that the role was hers and she “just assumed.” However, she later admitted that that “[used] to have plans about being each other’s maid of honor,” adding that the plans were made years prior.

Who is the maid of honor? The bride’s future sister-in-law. When her sister found out, she asked, “Why have I been here doing all this if it won’t be me.”

“I politely explained to her my reasons but she wasn’t having any of it. Told me she knew but was just waiting for me to say it and left. Fiancé’s sister even asked me to make my sister instead but I’ve said No,” the bride wrote, adding that her sister feels “betrayed” and that their mom is taking the sister’s side.

If she was seeking reassurance, the future bride did not find it on Reddit.

One person laid out exactly what they thought the original poster had done wrong, writing that the sister had agreed to help probably remembering the vow that they’d made in the past.

As for the bride saying that she wanted “a serious connection” with her maid of honor, the replier labeled that “a load of crap.”

“First, no you don’t, it’s a wedding. Literally almost everyone follows the same script that day. Second, where was this ‘connected’ friend when you were making your sister help you?” they wrote, ultimately saying that the bride was coming off as “an entitled, spoiled brat and a terrible sister.”

Others agreed.

“You had plans for years that you would be each other’s maid of honor. Why would she assume that had changed,” one person wrote. “You should have been clear form the start that you did not want her in that role, as soon as you got engaged.”

While they added that the woman was correct that it was her choice who stood with her on her wedding, they added that she’d gone about the whole process wrong.

“Now girl, you know you are the a–hole. I’m sure everyone around you has told you so, Reddit will not be any different,” yet another Redditor said. “But congrats on your marriage a–hole!”
