Hit 2019 Racing Movie Leaving Netflix Just Months After Arriving
After joining Netflix just three months ago, James Mangold's Ford V Ferrari will be leaving the platform in the United States on April 1, 2026.
The film tells the gripping true story of an automotive designer and a racecar driver who team up with Ford Motor Company to create a vehicle that can beat rival manufacturer Ferrari at the world's most important race.
Ford V Ferrari is a typical underdog story, with unlikely heroes coming together to prove that sometimes the greatest accomplishments can be made by ordinary minds pushed to their limits.
The film was a massive critical and commercial success upon its release in 2019, pulling in $225 million worldwide against a reported budget of $97 million (via Box Office Mojo). Lead actors Matt Damon and Christian Bale were a big reason for this box office success, as they both received strong acclaim for their performances.
Beyond its commercial success, Ford V Ferrari also proved to be a serious contender at the Academy Awards in 2020. The film was nominated in four categories: Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Editing, and Best Picture. Surprisingly, neither of the lead actors were nominated.
Ford V Ferrari took home the awards for Sound Editing and Film Editing, which honored the film's incredible craftsmanship and technical mastery. The visceral sound design and fast-paced editing are two of the film's clearest strengths, and its Oscar victories are a clear testament to that.
It wasn't an easy competition, either. Films such as 1917, The Irishman, and Parasite were nominated among the same categories—making Ford V Ferrari's two victories even more impressive.
Ford V Ferrari was added to Netflix in the United States on January 1, 2026, when it immediately shot into the streamer's Top 10 trending list—but it's already being pulled from the platform. There are certain licensing agreements that mean it can only be held by Netflix for a certain amount of time, and they're about to expire.
Thankfully, Ford V Ferrari is still available to stream publicly on FXNow—or on Fubo and YouTube TV with a valid subscription. Alternatively, viewers can buy or rent the film at home on any major VOD platform, such as Apple TV or Prime Video.
