British Judoka to Compete Across Five International Events This Weekend

A busy weekend of international judo lies ahead, with British senior, junior, and cadet squads in action across five events: the Dubrovnik Senior European Cup, Dakar African Open, Radom European Kata Tournament, Poznan Junior European Cup, and the Teplice Cadet European Cup.

Dubrovnik Senior European Cup

Nordine Adrif (Garioch JC) will compete in the -60kg category, following a strong 7th place finish at the Riga Senior European Cup last weekend. Gregg Varey (Team Bath) will take on the -66kg field.

In the -73kg category, Finlay Allan (Camberley JC) continues his push for Commonwealth Games selection.

A trio of Isaac Hope (Bredakwai JA), Joseph Mason (Hardy Spicer 83), who makes his European Cup debut, and Eryk Neumann (Hardy Spicer 83) will contest the -81kg division.

Nathan O’Sullivan (Bredakwai JA) returns to European Cup action for the first time since 2023 and is joined by Jared Sey (Budokwai) in the -90kg category. In the +100kg division, James Weller-Henry (Budokwai) arrives in good form following a 5th place finish in Riga and will look to build on that result.

On the women’s side, Summer Shaw (Camberley JC) will compete at -48kg in her third competition of the year, continuing her return from injury. Ashleigh Gainer (SKK JC) steps back into European Cup action at -57kg for the first time since mid-2023.

Rounding out the squad, Olivia Delahunty (Newbury JC) will compete in the -63kg category.

Great Britain will also be represented by referee Archi Shrimpton.

Dakar African Open

Ben Moore (Bradley Stoke JC) will compete at -73kg as he continues his push for Commonwealth Games selection.

In the -90kg category, Kenneth Harris (Royal Navy Judo) will look to build on experience gained at the Warsaw European Open and Casablanca African Cup earlier this year. Asher Price (Pinewood JC) joins him in the same division to complete the team.

Radom European Kata Tournament

In Katame-no-kata, experienced duo Lewis Hannington and Jim Crompton will once again represent Great Britain as they continue their pursuit of a first European medal.

In the Junior Ju-no-kata, Eva Cadby and Kai Morgan-Kelly will make their European kata debut, an exciting milestone for the new pair!

Poznan Junior European Cup

Nikoloz Shengelia (Palavani) will compete in the -81kg category in his first Junior European Cup, bringing with him valuable experience from cadet level.

A duo of Archili Tataru (Palavani) and Gheorghe Tataru (Palavani) will contest the -90kg division.

In the -52kg category, Lola Hodson (Dragons Academy), who has already claimed silver at the Tunis African Open this year, and Kate Chisholm (Judo Sensei London), who secured a 7th place finish at the Móstoles Junior European Cup, will both represent Great Britain.

Rounding out the team, Nicole Wood (Bishops Stortford JK) heads into the weekend in excellent form after winning gold at the Riga Senior European Cup and will look to build on that momentum, having already secured a 5th-place finish at Junior European Cup level in 2026.

Teplice Cadet European Cup

Reece Blackshaw (Penistone JC) will compete in the -55kg category in his third Cadet European Cup of the year, having secured 7th place at the Rome Cadet European Cup in February.

Robert Vozar (Causeway JC) will make his first appearance at a Cadet European Cup in the -73kg division, gaining valuable international experience.

In the -52kg category, Maisie Broadley (Wirral JC) competes in her third event of the year, also having taken 7th place in Rome earlier this season.

Taylor Chrisp (Blyth Juno Michi) completes the squad in the -57kg division, returning to Teplice after making her debut at the event in 2025.

Good luck to everyone representing Great Britain this weekend!
