'Enough of this nonsense!' Fed-up Trump orders Senate Republicans to end filibuster

President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Friday to once again demand that Senate Republicans eliminate the filibuster rule.

"The Republicans should TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, and VOTE!" wrote Trump. "Haven’t they had enough of this nonsense from the Radical Left Lunatics that are looking to destroy our Country?"

The president is desperate for the Senate to bypass the 60-vote threshold in order to enact the SAVE America Act, a draconian voter suppression bill, and full funding for the Department of Homeland Security including immigration enforcement.

Senate Republican leadership remains opposed to any changes to the filibuster, fearful that in the long run its elimination would make it far easier for Democrats to pass their legislative agenda than any short-term gains it would give to Republicans.

This comes as House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) lambasted Senate Republicans for joining with Democrats to pass a DHS funding bill that excludes immigration agencies, as a means of breaking the standoff about paying TSA agents at airports. House Republicans just voted that bill down earlier in the day.
