‘Yes’ vote on Culture and Commerce Business Improvement District
Businesses in Liverpool have voted in favour of renewing and expanding the Culture and Commerce Business Improvement District.
A ballot on the proposal has now concluded with the result that the proposal is approved.
As such the expanded district will come into effect from 1st June 2026 covering business premises in the waterfront, cultural and commercial areas of the city which are subject to a levy to support promotional activities and other support for the areas by the Liverpool BID Company.
The proposal was supported by 116 votes for to 16 against, on a 32% turnout.
Council Leader, Councillor Liam Robinson, said: “The “Yes” vote for a renewal and expansion of the BID is a major vote of confidence in the growth of our successful commercial and cultural economies.
“I want to thank all the businesses that participated in the ballot. Their support delivers a major boost to Liverpool’s tourism and business sector, supporting jobs and investment to benefit local people, and showing how Liverpool continues to offer a warm welcome to visitors from around the world.”
