Queens Drive highways improvement works to begin next week
Highway improvement works on Queens Drive will begin next week, starting on Monday 30 March.
The works will involve the installation of new highway drainage infrastructure on Queens Drive between Aigburth Vale and North Mossley Hill Road. Additional drainage improvements will also be carried out on North Mossley Hill Road between Ibbotson’s Lane and Queens Drive.
These works have been scheduled to take place during the school half-term period to help minimise disruption to residents, commuters and local traffic.
The works are anticipated to be completed by Tuesday 14 April, when the roads will be reopened.
To enable the works to be carried out safely and efficiently, there will be a temporary closure of Queens Drive eastbound between Aigburth Vale and North Mossley Hill Road. In addition, North Mossley Hill Road will be temporarily closed between Penny Lane and Queens Drive in both directions.
Park Avenue (between Aigburth Vale and Mossley Hill Drive) will also be closed to allow for the establishment of the site compound area. This closure will remain in place until completion of the wider works in mid-August.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys, and use alternative routes where possible.
These works form part of the Council’s wider programme to enhance key travel routes across the city, including ongoing improvements on Speke Hall Road. The upgrades will reduce the need for frequent maintenance and cut down on reactive roadworks in the future.
