Nicholas Brendon's Death: Coroner Confirms New Details, Including How He Was Found & Who Discovered Him

The coroner is providing more details about the tragic death of Nicholas Brendon.

Last week, we learned that Nicholas passed away on March 20. His family shared a statement revealing that he died from natural causes. He was only 54 years old.

Now, more details have been made public.

Putnam County Coroner Todd Zeiner told People that he was found “positioned as if asleep.”

He also confirmed who found him.

“The decedent resided alone and was discovered by a longtime friend who had been staying overnight to provide care. Evidence indicated the time of death was very recent. Investigators are reviewing recently posted videos as potential evidence of prior illness,” Zeiner added.

There were reportedly no signs of foul play, and we are awaiting final autopsy and toxicology reports.

He previously shared in 2023 that he had suffered from a heart attack and was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect along with cauda equina syndrome, leading to multiple spinal surgeries.

If you don’t know, he was best known for playing Xander Harris on the beloved supernatural drama show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which ran on The WB, and later UPN, from 1997 to 2003. He also appeared in titles including Psycho Beach Party, Coherence, and Criminal Minds over the years.
