The Goat’s Surf Forecast
Surf forecast issued Thursday 26 March 2026: Seven day outlook for Sydney
By now every chien and his homme to turn a use of phrase, knows that by Saturday the surf will be huge.. Right?
Well it depends on what a Low which is expected to form off the NSW South Coast/Victoria on Friday morning does.. Ie It’s not the same Low – now off NZ – that sent the large East swell today.
The BoM has Large Surf warnings for Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday.
If the Low does what the computer models currently (7PM Thursday) expect it to do, then
Friday could be about 2ish metres from dead South – (which means a lot of it could just go on past up the coast)
And if those same models blah blah etc then
Saturday is expected to be 4/5/6 metres,,pick a number.
But TG doesn’t quite feel happy in his guts about that – he could be wrong of course – but the Low which is presently on land will have to get up a big head of steam in a hurry and send those waves up quick.. And they look like having a lot of South in them, or South West.. ie big stuff heading past, but other lesser waves coming in.
And the size disappears overnight from the Low moving away quickly, by
Sunday to around 2 ish metres South East
Monday smaller say 1-2 metres South East
Tuesday say around 1ish metres dead South
Wednesday ditto South East
Anyway, be interesting to see what tomorrow brings
A large dead Leatherjacket was washed up on the beach yesterday…
Was it
1 a harbinger of bigger surf to come?
2 exhausted from trying to evade the sharks?
Only the fish knows and he wasn’t talking…

Up in the Air
Look at re-formed Severe TC Naughty Narelle still spinning around off Broome WA..after going backwards against usual weather patterns form off Cooktown Q – currnetly she’s expected to head down the WA coast as a Low (south of the tropics so not a tropical cyclone by definition),, turn the SW corner into the Great Australian Bight.. and who knows? Maybe she’s plaanning to have a go at circumnavigating the Continent..?? which would be unusual. But by Monday she’s expected to be more than halfway. Fascinating…
