Eagle Ready to Soar
The Big Barrel Hawks have added another key piece to their 2026 roster, with Ezrah Eagle set to bring basketball IQ, communication and perimeter shooting as the club continues to build a team focused on winning.
A Hawke’s Bay product who has been part of the Big Barrel Hawks environment for over a year, Eagle’s progression into the 2026 season reflects both his development and the value he brings. With his ability to make strong reads, communicate at a high level and shoot the ball from three establishing him as a connector who keeps the group organised on both ends of the floor.
His presence adds another layer of control and spacing to a Hawks side being built around performance, cohesion and execution.
Big Barrel Hawks General Manager Jarrod Kenny said Eagle’s strengths are directly aligned with winning basketball. “Ez plays the game at a really high level mentally. He reads situations, communicates well and makes the right decisions consistently. He’s a player who impacts winning without needing touches.” Kenny added that players who think the game and execute consistently are critical in building a sustainable winning standard. “You need guys who can make good decisions under pressure and keep the group connected. Ez does that, and when you add his shooting into the mix, it gives us another layer offensively that teams have to respect.”
Eagle said continuing his journey with the Hawks and contributing to a winning group is his focus. “For me it’s about continuing to build on what I’ve been doing here and helping the team win. I take pride in making the right plays, communicating, and doing my job for the group,” Eagle said. “I’ll keep working, keep learning, and be ready to contribute whenever I’m needed, whatever helps us win games.”
Head Coach Will Lopez said Eagle’s profile fits exactly what the Hawks are building toward in 2026. “Ezrah is a smart player. He understands the game, he talks, and he makes the right decisions,” Lopez said. “He gives us shooting, which is always valuable, but more importantly he helps organise and connect the group on the floor. Those are winning traits.”
With the Hawks continuing to assemble a balanced and competitive roster, the addition of Eagle strengthens the club’s ability to execute, communicate and perform under pressure, which are all key pillars in a winning team.
Eagle now joins Alonzo Burton, Kobe Kara, Isaac Allan, Keanu Rasmussen, Clifton Bush III, Balin Casson, Dan Grida, Tommy Fergusson and Jacob Murphy as other rostered players signed to date for the 2026 season.
