Man arrested for over 7kg of cannabis

Man 41 was arrested over the alleged import of seven kilos of cannabis police said on Thursday.
The arrest followed an investigation by the drug squad into a package that arrived in Cyprus by courier in February containing the drugs.
Police said evidence gathered during the inquiry led to a court warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
Officers detained him on Wednesday afternoon and searched his home, where they found a small quantity of cannabis, mobile phones and other items, which they seized.
The suspect was taken into custody and is due before the Nicosia district court on Thursday for a remand hearing.
The drug squad is continuing its investigation.
