This Watch Glows for 25 Years—And Honors Navy SEALs

When it comes to rugged tacticalwatches built for extreme conditions, Luminox has long been a go-to for military-inspired durability. Now, the brand is doubling down on that legacy with the limited-edition Navy SEAL Foundation 3500 The Guardian, a watch designed to honor the Navy SEAL Foundation while delivering serious real-world performance.

Built on the Luminox 3500 Series platform, the Guardian deploys a 45mm case in the brand’s proprietary CarbonNox material. The carbon-polymer is lightweight, yet ultra-durable making it ideal for tactical situations. Water resistant to ISO 200 meters, the watch is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel featuring black and orange diving scale. The black dial is paired with large, gray, Arabic numerals in 12-hour time with a smaller, inset 24-hour scale. There’s also a date window at 3 o’clock.

Along with the lumed Navy SEAL Foundation logo, the dial is outfitted with Luminox Light Technology (LLT) index hour markers and on the hands, using the same blue and gold color combination found on the Foundation’s logo, reinforcing the ties between watchmaker and the Navy SEAL Foundation. The LLT are always visible and will glow for up to 25 years in any light condition. 

Inside, the Guardian uses a Swiss Quartz Ronda movement to power its time keeping. The caliber is accurate to -10 to +20 seconds a month and has a battery life of 50 months. The piece comes on a blue rubber strap with a CarboNox signature pin buckle and the caseback is etched with Navy SEAL Foundation logo. 

Group product director at Luminox, Pierrick Marcoux says this watch was developed more as a tribute rather than a product. “The Navy SEAL Foundation does extraordinary work in supporting service men and women,” he says. “With ‘The Guardian’, we wanted to create something that symbolically reflects that mission… a watch that quite literally shines a light in the dark as a statement of respect, remembrance, and ongoing support.”

Production is limited to only 961 pieces worldwide, a reference to the year 1961, when the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams were officially established. The Navy SEAL 3500 The Guardian is available to purchase for $695 at luminox.com.
